Recent 2014 commitments (updated 5/17)

The Virginia Tech Hokies have gained their first commitment in the 2014 class.

OF Harry Lee Watson (James River, VA) is a left handed hitter who drives the ball to all fields with gap power and good foot speed. Watson plays his showcase baseball for the RBA South 2013 Elite team.

UVA has been cleaning up in the 2014 class recently gaining 3 verbal commitments from 3 of the top in state products the Commonwealth has to offer.

2014 INFs Charlie Cody (Great Bridge, VA) and Jack Gerstenmaier (Douglas Freeman, VA) both made recent commitments to the Cavaliers. Cody is a power hitting 3B who also runs a 6.6 and has had his arm strength tested as high as 88. Meanwhile Gerstanmeier is an athletic SS who runs a 6.7 and chucks the ball 90 mph across the INF. Both play their showcase ball for the Evoshield Canes 16u team.

Derek Casey (Hanover, VA) is quite possibly the top 2014 righty in the state of VA. Casey is a very efficient righty who pounds the zone in the 88-90 mph range with a plus slider. Casey plays his showcase ball for the VA Cardinals.

Jack Owens (2014, INF) has verbally committed to JMU. Jack is the starting SS for Lake Braddock HS (VA) and plays his showcase baseball for the Evoshield Canes 16u program. Jack is an elite level defender in the field.

Calvert Hall (MD) OF Troy Stokes has verbally committed to Maryland. Stokes has game changing speed that serves him well as both a lead off hitter and tracking down fly balls in CF. Stokes plays his showcase ball for the Evoshield Canes 16u team.

2014 INF and Western Branch HS (VA) product Kyle McPhearson has verbally committed to Georgia Tech. McPhearson is a plus defender with great foot speed And a high. Intact approach at the plate. McPhearson plays his showcase baseball for the Orioles Scout Team.

DJ Burt (Fuquay-Varina, NC)) has verbally committed to the Gamecocks of South Carolina. DJ is a 2014 INF/OF that has above average speed and a great approach at the plate. Lead-off type player and very versatile in the field. DJ plays his showcase ball for the Evoshield Canes.
