Committed Spotlight: 2019 Jayson Arendt

Jayson Arendt – 2019 grad out of Holly Springs, NC, Elon University commit, a right handed hitting middle infielder and outfielder and also right handed pitcher. Medium build but shows strength, very good athlete and student. Serious potential both in the field and on the mound. Quick twitch kind of player that plays with a lot of energy, good first step and instincts in the field, plays multiple positions. Really showed well at the plate, consistently squaring up balls to all fields. His front foot starts slightly open, gets front side loaded nicely and does a great job of separating his hands from his body. Solid front side allows his hands to work the barrel through the zone with controlled aggression. Has strong hands and quick bat thorough the zone. Shows good balance, great bat path and gets great extension through pitches to any part of the zone. On the mound, he has a quick tempo to wind up. Does a good job of staying in line and letting his quick arm work. Arm shows a whippy action that is from over the top. Good fastball sitting 86-89 at this years Dynamic East Coast Championships in Greenville, NC. Good mix with a decent breaking ball at 71-72. Big time 2 way potential at the next level. Solid find for the Elon Phoenix.
