A crosstown match up on a nice spring day between Cosby and James River took us south to see the two outer Richmond area teams square off. Cosby, a regional finalist team a year ago started the season 0-2 and was looking to get back on the winning track. 2017 Washington & Lee recruit Peyton McCann got the start for James River. McCann pounded the zone over his 5 inning outing, using a fastball breaking ball combo. Sophomore Devin Miles got the ball for Cosby and matched his counter part through out his outing. With both pitchers in a groove there wasn't much offense in the game. The only scoring came in the 1st inning when Cosby's 2018 uncommitted C/RHP Ethan Williams took a 2-2 85 mph fastball from McCann and drove it to deep center field scoring 2 runs. From that point on Cosby never looked back and cruised to a 2-0 win over their crosstown rival. Below is a few top prospects who stood out.
