Tuesday's matchup between Colonial Forge vs Western Albemarle ended in a 4-1 win for Forge. Forge plated 2 runs in the first on a double by Robert Moffett and Jake Wortman followed by a 2RBI single by Kennard McNeal. West Albermarle scored its lone run in the second inning off Tyler Jones RBI single. Forge added two more runs in the 6th when Nate Zimmerman singles through the right side scoring two runs. Aldric Zeak went the distance for Forge picking up the win. Below are some players who stood out.
Garret Payne RHP 2020- NC State Commit. Garret has a really projectable arm with a tall slender frame. His arm worked loose and efficient topping out at 83 with good arm side run. Good feel for a slider at 75. Projects for more as he fills out.
Luke Tenuta 2018 RHP- Luke came in out of the bullpen with a fastball that sat 85-87 and topped at 88. Threw a heavy slider at 77. The 6'7 270 pound senior is committed to VA Tech to play football.
Jake Wortman 2019 C/3B- The uncommitted switch hitter went 2-3 with a double. Very balanced hitter with good feel for the barrel. Strong frame. Receives and blocks well behind the plate.
Players to follow
Robert Moffett 2020 MIF- showed good action in the infield. Hit a double in the first inning.
Aldric Zeak 2019 RHP-Complete game on the mound. Topped at 80. Mixed pitches for strikes. Would benefit from added strength and velocity. Liked his presence on the mound and his ability to repeat his delivery.
